for a nutty twist to the rice crispy treat recipe, I add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of toasted pecans. OMG, the greatest flavor and nutty crunch.

~*Hi my name is Gina and I just made these yummy treats for my managers birthday for the first time today! I quickly reviewed the different ideas and the tricks to the trade. I have to agree the microwave method is quick fast and efficient. I followed the microwave directions exactly. I had hardly any mess. The key to the treats not falling apart, is to wet your hands and smash the mix in a nonstick 9x9 baking pan lined with wax paper works great! IMPORTANT! Put in microwave for two minutes, take out and stir melted mix evenly then put back in microwave for 1 minute and then quickly mix in 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal and then add your teaspoon of vanilla extract and two pinches of salt. Now I used frosted rice crispy cereal, so that's why I only used a teaspoon. After mixing is all done wet hands with cold water and firmly press mix onto 9x9 pan. Then while treats are still warm put topping on. I drizzled mini chocolate chips over top with a spoon. Then you are ready to cut with a knife into squares. Yummy! Thank you guys so much for your helpful hints and ideas! They made my cooking experience a wonderful one! Gina*~

I make mine totally different. My recipe:

2 c. sugar
2 c. white corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. peanut butter
2 tbsp. vanilla
6-8 c. Rice Krispies

Boil sugar, syrup, butter, vanilla when rolling boil, boil 2 minutes. Remove from stove, add peanut butter, mixing well then add Rice Krispies. Mixing well. Pour into a jelly roll pan and let cool. Cut into squares and enjoy.

I added the peanut butter to the melted marshmallows as above -- I also had some leftover chocolate stars I melted and spread on top. Thanks for the great ideas.

I loved the tips for the Rice Krispies Treats, and here is mine, recently I tried something that worked like a charm to press down the still warm, but slightly cooled treats. Pour them into a buttered pan, let them cool a few minutes, then sprinkle dry rice crispies across the top, put your hand in a sandwich bag, rub the outside of bag with butter and press down the treats. This worked wonderfully and the dry treats just pressed in and blended with the moist ones!

I have always loved this recipe. During the summer my kids and I made these at my mother's house since she had all of the ingredients. They came out perfect! However, I made the mistake of trying to make these at home using all generic brands. What a mistake! Everything that could've possibly gone wrong, did. They fell apart, were soggy on the bottom, and tasted stale. It felt like I was giving my jaw a workout! They were supposed to be for my daughter's class and I had to toss them! Never again will I try to substitute for the real stuff. Lesson learned!

I know this is super easy but and kinda cheating but my 3 girls eat the whole pan at one time when I make it. And I do it one the stove top as well, one bag of jet puff mellows reg or mini, 1/4 c butter, one box of fruity pebbles. Or you could just use 3 containers of mello cream.

Just made mine.. they're GREAT!! I used 6 cups crispies, 1 cup craisins, 1 cup peanuts and 1 (16 oz) package marshmallows with the other ingredients. The extra marshmallows make up for the peanuts and craisins!!!

I made these with the gingerbread marshmellow and they were great. Made them with puffed brown rice once and not nearly crispy enough. I have also made then with cocoacrispies, slivered almonds and some coconut to make them like almond joys. Threw some mini chocolate chips in them too. Very yummy!

I use the old recipe too, but I make them with grand kids and use a sided cookie sheet or jellyroll pan. Then use seasonal cookie cutters (firm/metal ones) and decorate accordingly. I butter the kids hands and let them press down the mix - they get a real buzz. Doing Valentine shapes next week.
