APPLE PIE | |
6 med. apples, peeled and sliced into wedges 1 c. sugar 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon Pinch of nutmeg 3 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. flour 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell (top optional) Mix the apples, sugar, and spices in a bowl and allow to marinate for at least 1 hour but preferably longer. Drain the apple and reserve the liquid. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Put the apples into the unbaked pie shell and bake for 30 minutes. Mix the reserved liquid with the butter and flour in a heavy saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until no lumps appear and the mixture is the consistency of heavy cream. If you are using a 2 crust pie, cut 2 holes in the top and pour the liquid in the holes after baking. If using only one crust, just pour over the surface of the pie after baking. Allow to cook approximately 10 more minutes, then serve. |
