MORMON PIONEER APPLESAUCE WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
3 c. applesauce 2 1/2 c. hot water 1 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. salt 2 tbsp. MSG (Accent) 1/2 c. melted shortening or oil 6 c. whole wheat flour 9 plus c. white flour (unbleached) 2 pkg. dry yeast mixed with 1/2 c. warm water Combine applesauce, hot water, brown sugar, salt, MSG, and oil. Add whole wheat flour. Mix and let set for 20-30 minutes. Soften yeast by mixing dry yeast with water. Add to mixture. Add white flour to make a soft to medium dough. Knead for 10 minutes. Let rise until double, approximately 1 1/2 hours at 85 degrees. Punch down and let rest for 10 minutes. Put in three 5 x 9 inch greased bread pans. Allow to rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Brush tops with butter. Cool. |
