DIANA'S CHOCOLATE SHEET CAKE | |
2 c. sugar 2 c. all purpose flour 1/3 c. cocoa 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. (2 sticks) butter 1 c. water 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 eggs 1 tsp. pure vanilla Frosting: 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter 1/4 c. cocoa 6 tbsp. milk 4 c. powdered sugar 1 c. chopped walnuts Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt in large mixing bowl. Mix well. Heat butter and water in saucepan until boiling. Pour over dry ingredients and mix. Beat in buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Pour thin batter into greased and floured 15 x 10-inch pan. Bake in 400°F oven for 20 minutes. To make frosting, combine butter, cocoa and milk. Heat to boiling. Pour over sugar and nuts. Mix well. Spread on hot cake. Serve warm or cold. Makes 18 servings. |
