GRANDMOTHER ELBOURN'S SHORTBREAD 
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. milk

Oven as high as it will go. Blend dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture is moist and crumbly. The egg gets beaten in the milk. Add to the mixture and roll out dough. Bake approximately 10 minutes in hot oven or until brown.
