MINT PATTIES 
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. peppermint extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. confectioners' sugar

Combine all ingredients in bowl; mix well. Tint with food coloring, if desired. Shape into small balls. Place on waxed paper. Flatten with fork. Let stand, loosely covered, until dry. Yield: 1 1/2 pounds.
