DROP SUGAR COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift all dry ingredients. Cream butter and shortening, add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and egg. Add flour mixture, beat until smooth. Blend in milk. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 400 degrees about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 5 1/2 dozen 2" cookies.
