EASY BEEF STEW 
1 1/2 lbs. lean beef, cubes of chuck, round or sirloin
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 potatoes, peeled & cubed
2 stalks celery, sliced diagonally
4 carrots, slit lengthwise
2 onions, 1/2 inch slices
1 can (10 1/2 oz.) tomato soup
1/2 soup can water

Put beef in 3 quart casserole, sprinkle with salt, pepper and basil. Add sliced onions. Top with celery and carrots. Combine with soup and water and pour over ingredients. Cover tightly and bake 3 hours at 300 degrees. Add potatoes and cook 1 hour more.
