QUICK CHERRY COBBLER 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. self rising flour
3/4 c. milk
1 (16 oz.) can pitted unsweetened cherries
1/2 c. sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in casserole dish; place in oven to melt. Combine 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk; mix to make a smooth batter. Pour over melted butter. Do not stir. Pour cherries (undrained) over batter and sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar. Bake for 30 minutes. (Batter rises to top.) 4-6 servings.

VARIATION: Fresh peaches, sweetened to taste, can be used in place of cherries.
