SNICKERDOODLES 
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

In large mixing bowl cream the 3/4 cup sugar and the butter. Beat in the egg and vanilla.

In small bowl stir together flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar. Stir into butter mixture until well mixed.

Combine the 2 tablespoons of sugar and the cinnamon in a bowl.

Turn oven to 375. Grease cookie sheet with shortening.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls; roll each in the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Put balls 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet and flatten. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 36.

For Christmas, roll in red and green sugar mixed.
