HASH BROWN HOT DISH 
2 lb. bag frozen hash browns, thawed
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. minced onion (optional)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 (8 or 12 oz.) carton sour cream
2 c. mild colby cheese, grated

TOPPING:

2 c. corn flakes or Wheaties
1/4 c. melted butter

Mix together in 9 x 13 inch pan. Top with 2 cups crushed corn flakes or Wheaties. Pour 1/4 cup melted butter over the flakes. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. May be mixed together a day before baking. Optional - I have added chunks of ham for more flavor.
