COUNTRY BISCUITS 
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tbsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with fork until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Add buttermilk and blend with fork until flour is moistened and dough pulls away from sides of bowl. Turn out on lightly floured bread board. Knead dough lightly (2 minutes and roll out to 3/4 inch thick). Cut out and place on lightly greased pan. Brush top with butter. Bake at 475 degrees for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
