SLOW OVEN BEEF STEW 
1 California roast or 2 lb. lean stewing beef
1 pkg. onion soup mix (drain)
3/4 c. chopped celery leaves
1/2 c. chopped parsley
1 can tomato soup
1 tbsp. sugar, white or brown
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. crushed basil
1/2 c. chili sauce
1/2 c. catsup

Cut roast into small pieces. Sprinkle with onion mix. Add next 9 ingredients. Bake 2 1/2 to 3 hours in 300 degree oven. In saucepan, cook amount needed of potatoes, carrots, celery and peas. Remove meat from oven. Skim off any fat. Thicken liquid with 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 1/4 cup water. Mix until smooth. Add cooked vegetables.
