COCOA CHERRY DROPS 
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
6 tbsp. Hershey's cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped maraschino cherries, well drained
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or walnut pieces (optional)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; blend well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in cherries and chopped nuts.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Press walnut pieces on each cookie, if desired. Bake 10 to 20 minutes or until set. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
