DANISH APPLE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
1/3 c. butter
2 c. applesauce, sweetened
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Whipped cream

Saute crumbs in butter until evenly browned. Line a greased pan, 8 x 8x 2 inches with half the crumbs. Mix applesauce, salt, lemon juice and cinnamon. Pour half over crumbs. Cover with rest of crumbs, then remaining applesauce. Top with sweetened whipped cream. Chill several hours. Serve in squares, decorated with bits of red jelly, if desired.
