ALMOND BUTTER COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
1 c. almond butter
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda

(DO NOT add salt if almond butter has been made from salted roasted almonds. If not salted, add 1/2 teaspoon salt.)

Cream shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and extract. Stir in almond butter. Sift dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoon on UNGREASED cookie sheet. Press with bottom of glass, add garnish if desired, or press with floured fork to make a criss cross mark. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes.

I don't know why but I was surprised how delicious these were. I did have to add a little extra flour as the dough was too loose. Not too sweet. Everyone loved them.

Baking these cookies for the first time. I agree with the previous review... the dough is too loose. I decided to go ahead with the original recipe anyway at least the first time. Second sheet I added almost another cup of flour. These are delicious!
