ORANGE CANDY COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sifted flour
1 lb. orange candy slices
1/2 c. flaked coconut or chopped nuts
1/2 c. rolled oats

Dice the orange candy and mix with 1/2 cup of the 2 cups sifted flour. Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, sift remaining flour, salt and soda, and blend into creamed mixture. Fold in orange slices, add coconut, nuts and oats. Roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place on greased baking sheet and press down with fork; don't flatten too thin. Bake in slow 325 degree oven for 12 minutes.
