1 tbsp. butter (butter)
3/4 c. clear syrup (Karo)
1 tbsp. vanilla
10-12 apple sticks
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. cold water
Red food coloring (optional)

Wash and dry apples; insert sticks. Mix all ingredients, except food coloring. Boil, stir constantly until mixture becomes brittle. Turn fire very low, add food color. Dip apples in candy and place on greased cookie sheet. Enough for 10-12 apples.
