NANA'S STUFFING | |
1 diced lg. onion 3 stalks celery, diced 8-10 c. dried bread 2 tbsp. dill weed (either fresh or dried) 3 lg. eggs 1 liver minced very fine (turkey or chicken which ever you are cooking) Salt and pepper to taste Can be bread, white, wheat, rye, etc. or rolls of any kind. I save in freezer after it is thoroughly dried. The better quality the bread the better the stuffing. Saute onions and celery in butter and let cool. Put dried bread in cold water, soak until water is somewhat absorbed (maybe 2-3 minutes) and then squeeze all the moisture you can out. Put in large bowl. Add the onions, liver, dill, salt, pepper and break the eggs into the bowl. Mix thoroughly and stuff the bird. |
