Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream 1/2 cup softened butter and 3/4 cup packed brown sugar. Add 1 egg, 1 teaspoon milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat well. Stir together 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture, beat well. Stir in one 6 ounce package semi sweet chocolate chips. Spread in greased 9x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool just a little cut into squares. Top with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and nuts, if desired.
