PICANTE SAUCE 
4 qts. peeled and chopped ripe tomatoes
3 large bell peppers, finely chopped
4 large onions finely chopped
1/3 c. salt
2 tbsp. garlic powder
2 tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. comino powder (cumin)
3/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. black pepper
1 c. jalapeno peppers, finely chopped for hot sauce for medium use 1/3 to
1/2 cup.

Combine all ingredients in large pot. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Keep cooking while putting in sterilized jars. Seal each jar immediately upon filling with sauce. Makes about 10 pints.
