1/2 c. mashed potatoes (can use instant) 1/3 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening Mix together. Add: 2 C. scalded milk Dissolve 1 package yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. 6 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Dough will be slightly sticky. Oil top of dough. Cover, let raise until double. Can raise in refrigerator overnight. (May be stirred in refrigerator several days or frozen to use later.) To prepare, roll out on oiled surface 1/8 inch thick. Fry in hot oil. Drain paper, eat with honey butter. |
