SUPER-SPECIAL HOMEMADE DOG
BISCUITS

3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. rye flour
1 c. cornmeal
2 c. cracked wheat (or wheat germ)
1/2 c. powdered (non-fat dry) milk
1 tbsp. salt (optional)
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 c. (or more) chicken or beef stock, or stock flavored with turkey or lamb

Mix all ingredients together. Roll out the dough. (It will be sticky, so don't get upset if it's a little messy.) Cut dough with a dog, cat, bird or bone- shaped cookie cutter. Or free-hand it if you're feeling artistic. How about a spring kite.

Put the shapes on non-stick baking sheets. Brush the biscuits with a mixture of 1 beaten egg mixed with dash of milk.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. If you have dogs who prefer softer cookies, shorten the baking time.

For a treat, you can put in a of finely ground chicken or when you mix the other ingredients.
