FRUITCAKE COOKIES 
2 lb. dates, chopped
16 oz. cherries, chopped
12 slices pineapple, chopped
3 qts. pecans, chopped
1 box dark brown sugar
3 lg. eggs
4 1/2 c. self-rising flour
3 tsp. baking soda
4 sticks butter
3 tbsp. wine or milk
3 tsp. vanilla
1 jar pineapple jam

Sift together flour and soda. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, milk and preserves. Add flour. Add fruit and nuts. Mix well. Drop by teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake 8 to 12 minutes at 325 degrees. These cookies store well. Make ahead and enjoy the holidays.
