HOT COLD WATER DILL PICKLES 
Cucumbers, sm. to med. size
1 1/2 tbsp. salt
1 garlic bud
1 jalapeno pepper
Fresh dill
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 tsp. alum

Fill quart jar with cucumbers, add all ingredients to each jar. Fill jar with cold water and seal. Shake well. Ready in 3 or 4 weeks. Yield: 1 quart.
