RED VELVET CAKE 
2 c. oil
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vinegar
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. orange flavoring

Beat oil and sugar. Add eggs, flavorings, vinegar and food coloring. Mix dry ingredients separately, sifting all together. Add alternately with buttermilk and sugar mixture. Beat thoroughly.

Bake in three 9-inch round layer pans (greased and dusted with flour).

Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.

Icing:

1 can canned milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar and Crisco
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cook milk, salt and flour until very thick. Cool. Cream cheese and sugar. Beat well. Add cooled mixture and vanilla. Thoroughly beat and spread on cake and between layers.
