DATE PUDDING 
1 lb. pitted dates
1 c. boiling water
1 heaping tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Add soda to the water and pour over dates that have been cup up. Let stand until they soften. Mix sugar, egg and butter until creamy - add the date mixture and then the dry ingredients.

Bake in slow oven 45 minutes at 350°F. Serve with whipped cream.
