CHOCOLATE SHEET CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick butter, 1/2 c. shortening or 2 sticks butter
1 c. water
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)

Sift flour, measure, resift with sugar and salt. Bring to boil butter, shortening, water and cocoa. Pour over flour, sugar mixture. In another bowl put eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Add to above mixture, mix well. Bake in a greased and floured shallow cake pan (15 x 10 x 1 inch). Bake for 35 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Start icing last 5 minutes cake is baking.

QUICK AND EASY CHOCOLATE ICING:

1 stick butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 box confectioner's sugar
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix butter, cocoa and milk in saucepan. Heat over low flame, do not boil. Remove from heat, add confectioner's sugar, chopped nuts and vanilla. Mix well. Frost chocolate sheet cake as soon as removed from oven. Cut cake in squares to serve. Makes 24 servings or 48 party size squares.
