CRUSTY HONEY WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
1 c. milk 1 c. water 1/2 c. honey 3 tbsp. butter 3 1/2 to 4 c. white flour 2 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 2 pkg. yeast 1 egg 1 tbsp. salt Heat milk, water, honey and butter to 120. Mix 2 cups white flour, 1 cup wheat flour, yeast, egg, salt, and warm milk mixture for 3 minutes. Gradually add remaining flours. Knead until smooth, about 4 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 1 hour. Divide in two equal parts, shape and place in greased bread pans. Cover and let rise until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes and then at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Butter top after removing from oven. |
