FROSTED CARAMEL COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. lard (I use Crisco)
1 1/2 c. molasses
1 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream together sugar and lard or Crisco. Add molasses. Dissolve soda in water. Add to the mixture while still hot. Add spices. Then add enough flour to make a soft dough. Roll, cut and bake in a 350 degree oven until done, 10-15 minutes. You can drizzle a powdered sugar frosting or make 7 minute frosting to put on the cookies.
