Coffeecake 
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk
1 cup finely chopped pared tart apple
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Stir butter to soften; add sugar and cream till fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating smooth after each addition. Pour into greased 9x9x2-inch pan. Combine remaining ingredients, sprinkle over batter.

Bake in moderate oven (375) 25-30 minutes or till done. Cool 15 minutes; cut in squares and serve warm.
