AUNT ANNA'S RYE BREAD 
2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 tsp. sugar
3 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. rye flour
White flour

Add 1/2 teaspoon sugar to water. Sprinkle yeast over top and allow to sit until yeast foams. Heat milk, butter, brown sugar, white sugar and salt. Place in large bowl. Add molasses and baking soda. Add 1 cup rye flour. Stir. Add yeast mixture. Add 1 more cup rye flour. Stir. Add white flour until dough becomes stiff. Knead until soft and smooth. Let rise. Recipe makes 3 loaves and a small pan of biscuits. Let rise. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown. Brush with butter.
