ORANGE CAKE 
4 eggs
1 stick butter (softened)
1 c. superfine sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 lg. oranges

SAUCE:

1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. water

Separate egg whites from yolks. Beat yolks with the butter. Add sugar, beat again. Add flour and baking powder, stir.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold them carefully into the cake mixture. Add the grated peel of 2 oranges to the mixture.

Pour mixture into buttered cake pan. Bake in medium oven, 350 degrees, 45 minutes. As soon as done remove from pan, cool on cake rack.

Boil water and sugar 5 minutes. Meanwhile squeeze juice from 2 oranges. Take pan off heat. Add orange juice. Pour over lukewarm cake.
