1 c. soft shortening or butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. peanut butter
2 eggs (beaten)
2 to 2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder (optional)

Cream shortening or butter, sugars, eggs and peanut butter together very well. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Shape into balls. Put on greased cookie sheets. Press with a fork that has been dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
