KOLACH 
3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 pkg. or cake yeast
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla (optional)

Scald milk. Add sugar, shortening and salt. When lukewarm add egg and yeast, beat until dissolved. Add flour, beat about 1 minute or 100 times or until smooth. Vanilla is optional. Let raise about 1 3/4 hours. Divide in half and roll out.

FILLING:

1 c. chopped nutmeats
3/4 c. sugar
A little cinnamon

Combine nuts, sugar and cinnamon. Add half of filling to each, roll up and let raise about 1/2 hour. Put on greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes in preheated oven. Makes 2.
