FATHER'S "END OF THE GARDEN"
PICKLES
 
10 cucumbers
6 carrots
4 red peppers
4 green peppers
2 c. green or yellow beans or mixed
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. mustard seed
2 tsp. turmeric
6 c. sugar
4 c. vinegar
3 tsp. celery seed

Slice cucumbers in 2 inch strips. Soak overnight in water and 1/2 cup salt. Drain and rinse. Slice carrots in 1 inch pieces, cut beans in 1 inch pieces, cook 5 minutes. Cut pepper in 2 inch strips. Make syrup of rest of ingredients, heat to boil. Add vegetables, bring to a boil. Seal in jars.
