PEANUT BUTTER OATMEAL BARS 
2/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. milk
1 1/4 c. candy coated peanut butter pieces
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. rolled oats

Cream shortening, brown sugar and sugar until light and fluffy, beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add alternately with milk to cream mixture. Stir in rolled oats and 1/2 cup of peanut butter pieces.

Spoon into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan spreading evenly, sprinkle with remaining peanut butter pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when lightly touched in center. Cool, cut into bars. Makes about 20 bars.
