NEVER FAIL PIE DOUGH 
4 c. unsifted flour
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. solid vegetable shortening
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. white vinegar
1 lg. egg

Makes 5 pie shells. Put first 3 ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Add shortening and mix with a fork. In a small bowl, beat water, vinegar, egg - combine with flour mixture using fork.

Divide dough into 5 portions - shape in round flat patty, wrap in plastic wrap and chill 1/2 hour. Roll 1/8 inch thick on floured board - is most forgiving, patches easily and is flaky! Dough can be frozen for later use.
