SHEPHERD'S PIE | |
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 4 tbsp. shortening 1 c. carrots, cooked 3 c. mashed potatoes 1 medium onion, chopped 1/2 c. beef gravy 1 c. peas (or other vegetable) Melt shortening in a skillet, add onion, cooking until transparent. Add ground beef and brown. Drain fat. Pour beef/onion mixture into a 2 quart casserole dish. Mix in gravy. Add carrots and peas in alternate layers. Then cover mixture with mashed potatoes. Place several slices of butter on top of potatoes and sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 400°F for 25-30 minutes. Before serving top with shredded cheese and melt. |
