GERMAN CARAMEL DELIGHT | |
1 box German chocolate cake 1 stick melted butter 1/3 c. milk 14 oz. pkg. caramels 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips Nuts, optional Prepare cake mix as directed on box. Pour half of batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan; bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Meanwhile, melt the butter, milk and caramels together in a double boiler. Pour the caramel mixture over the half baked cake, also sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Pour remaining cake batter over chocolate chips and nuts. Return cake to oven. Reduce temperature to 250 degrees and bake for 10 minutes. Turn oven up to 350 degrees and bake another 10 minutes. Serve with whipped cream and a cherry garnish. Best when served warm. |
