APPLE PIE SQUARES 
CRUST:

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. vegetable shortening
1 egg
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/3 c. cold water

FILLING:

8 lg. apples, sliced thinly
2 c. apple juice
4 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. butter
2 tsp. cinnamon

Make crust: Mix flour and salt and cut in shortening. Mix beaten egg, lemon and water. Pour over flour and stir just until moistened. Chill 30 minutes. Roll half out and put in 9 x 13 inch cake pan covering bottom and 1 inch up sides.

Filling: Cook apple juice, sugar and cornstarch until thickened, and add butter. Stir in apples and pour into crust in pan. Sprinkle cinnamon over filling and add top crust. Bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees, or until top is browned and apples are tender. Drizzle powdered sugar frosting over top and cut into 8 squares.
