1/2 c. Karo light corn syrup
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla (may substitute other flavors)
Dash of salt
2 c. sugar

Mix together and boil until mixture reaches soft crack stage. Then add food coloring of your choice. Pour onto cookie sheet and break apart when cool.
