DATE & NUT COOKIES 
1 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour

Cream together, roll out on floured surface cut into 4 parts. Roll out about 1/4 inch thick then spread date filling on and roll. Wrap in wax paper. Put in freezer to chill the dough. Take out of freezer and slice about 1/4 inch thick. Bake on greased cookie sheet about 8 minutes at 400 degrees.

DATE FILLING:

1 box dates in saucepan, chopped
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Cook until thickened slightly. Let cool, add 1/2 cup of finely chopped walnuts.
