CHOW-CHOW 
1 qt. cabbage
2 c. onions, chopped
3 c. green tomatoes
2 c. green and red peppers
2 c. cucumbers

Let stand in water all night. Add 3 tablespoons salt, then drain.

Add:

2 1/2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. mustard seed

Mix sugar and spices, boil ten minutes and then a hard boil for 5 minutes. Pour mixture in jars.
