HARD TACK CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. white syrup
1 c. water

Cook until it is 300 degrees. When you take it off the stove add food coloring, about 1/2 bottle, wintergreen or cinnamon. After it cools, add some confectionery sugar.

Years ago, we made this for the youth kids to sell at church at Christmas. We used a marble plate to break it up on.

Use scissors to cut it when it cools enough to touch it..i have found this works better than breaking it
