POPCORN BALLS 
2 c. sugar, granulated
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. corn syrup
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
8 qts. popped corn

Combine sugar, syrup, water, salt and butter. Cook, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Cook to 273 degrees or until it forms a hard ball in water. Add vanilla and stir. Pour slowly over popcorn that has been lightly salted, stirring popcorn constantly. Mix well. Butter and wet hands in cold water. Shape popcorn into balls of desired size. Place on wax paper.
