3 c. half milk and half cream
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter (may substitute butter)
4 rounded tbsp. flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 unbaked pie shells
1 oz. cake chocolate

Mix dry ingredients. Add milk and cream, melted butter, and vanilla. Pour into pie shells. Shave chocolate over top. Bake in moderate oven until thickened. Serve warm.

This recipe was my mother's Mrs. E. A. Clore. It was a favorite with all her 12 children. It is still a favorite with me.
