FRESH APPLE COBBLER 
FILLING:

5 c. sliced apples
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. plain flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. soft butter

BATTER:

1/2 c. sifted plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. soft butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all filling ingredients except butter. Add 1/4 cup water. Pour into 9 x 9 3/4 inch dish. Dot apples with butter.

Combine batter ingredients. Beat with spoon until smooth. Drop batter in 9 portions on filling, spacing evenly. Bake 35-40 minutes or until apples are fork tender and crust is golden brown. Serve hot with ice cream.
