MOIST CHOCOLATE CAKE 
Cake:

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 stick butter
1 cup water
1/2 cup shortening
3 tbsp cocoa
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla

Sift together flour, sugar, and salt. Set aside. In saucepan, melt butter, water, shortening and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over flour mixture. Stir well. In another bowl, dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well and add to rest of mixture.

Bake in 15 x 10 pan at 350°F for 20 minutes. Frost when cool.

Frosting:

1 stick butter
3 tbsp cocoa
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
6 tbsp carnation milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Begin making frosting 5 minutes before cake is done. In saucepan, melt butter and mix with cocoa. Remove from heat and beat in sugar, vanilla, and milk. Swirl over hot cake. Sprinkle with nuts.
