1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. oatmeal
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (double if you like)

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, vanilla and water. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add oatmeal and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet and bake 12 minutes in moderate oven, 350 degrees.
